How to prepare for a trip to the tropics
Long journeys, although certainly fascinating, may also be very dangerous. Tropical diseases are often dangerous for our health, in some cases can even be fatal!
How to avoid this tragic effect? Viruses, bacteria, diseases transmitted between people, but also those transmitted by animals, and even plants – al this can happen to us during the long journey to tropical countries. Before you go for a dreamed-of vacation we should know what kind of preventive actions should be taken before departure.
To do this, it is worth to visit the doctor. One of the most dangerous diseases is malaria, which can be transmitted by mosquitoes. There is no effective treatment for it, but one can prophylactic medications. Efficacy of those medicines is estimated at 90%. Fever is also a dangerous disease.
Vaccinations against hepatitis, tetanus, typhoid and rabies are also available. However, apart from the vaccines, proper habits are also extremely important. Remember that when you are in a tropical country, whether it is African, Asian, or one that is located in South America you have to take extra hygiene.
Regular hand washing, avoiding things used by others, avoiding sexual contact, consumption of food and water only from reliable sources, appropriate clothing to protect against mosquitoes - all this will allow us to come back from a trip with nice memories and without any health problems.
